Consortium builds 10 social housing units and 10 affordable owner-occupied homes.
At the Begijnenwinning residential development in Tessenderlo, the consortium Dethier, Machiels Building Solutions and B+Architecten successfully delivered 20 social housing units on behalf of Wonen in Limburg, comprising 10 rental homes and 10 affordable owner-occupied homes. The project was developed under the Modular Housing framework agreement and features timber-frame construction.
Within just four months, previously undeveloped plots were transformed into fully completed, energy-efficient homes ready for immediate occupancy. This remarkable delivery timeline highlights the efficiency and scalability of modular construction.
By leveraging an innovative and carefully engineered modular building approach, the project combines rapid execution with high construction quality, sustainability and cost-effectiveness. It demonstrates that accelerated housing delivery can go hand in hand with architectural quality, residential comfort and long-term performance.
“We are particularly pleased that we can deliver housing in an efficient yet high-quality manner, enabling us to address the shortage of affordable homes more rapidly. From a visual perspective, there is no distinction between a traditional and a modular home, while the quality standards are equally high.”
— Dries Deferm, Chairman of Wonen in Limburg
This project serves as a strong example of how modular construction can provide a fast, high-quality and economically viable solution to today’s growing demand for affordable housing.
