New floor for the De Groene Parel primary school
De Groene Parel includes the construction of a school, nursery, in a beautiful residential area in St-Pieters-Leeuw. The school, nursery and apartments have already been completed. The project is the result of a collaboration between GO! (Community Education) and Montreal Red. ‘De Groene Parel’ is a pilot project to develop an ‘open school’. GO! wants to realize new school environments in combination with residential and other functions.
The new school for the Groene Parel became a functional building with a lot of attention to light, greenery in the environment and cheerful colors in the architecture and in the interior finishing. The facade stands out with its cheerful color surfaces. Machiels Building Solutions produced and installed the prefab HSB elements for the additional floor (Design & Build) on the existing school building. The expansion with 6 classes was completed in 2021.
