A building formerly used as a canteen by Ghent University has been completely transformed. The Octopus Building in the city’s Overpoort area was converted into a student residence complete with shops, services, and food and drink outlets. The prefabricated timber construction components feature built-in windows and doors. The building’s façade is finished on the outside with fibre cement board, interspersed with windows.
