Set in the heart of the port area, Berendrecht’s new fire station is a sustainable building, with concrete and timber deliberately chosen as the main building materials. The lower floors bring together a concrete structure with sustainable timber-frame construction components, while the top floor is built around a timber frame. The structure above the garage has larger spans but is kept lightweight by the wood. The façade is entirely clad in timber.
