KIDS - Socio-cultural adult work organization.(non-profit organization)
KIDS (non-profit organisation) cares for the education and support of children, young people and adults with a severe speech and language disorder, an autism spectrum disorder and of deaf and hard of hearing children and their parents in the province of Limburg.
Given the growth of the institution and the changing funding methods of the care landscape, there was a desire to realise an expansion for the accommodation of adults on the Hasselt campus in the very near future. It concerns 2 day care groups and 18 residential units.
Together with the architectural office Urban Dots – Hasselt, a Design&Build design (with prefab HSB) was elaborated on the basis of the guidelines and submitted for an environmental permit application.
After the permit, awarded to MBS as the main contractor, the entire execution of the project, from ground and foundation work to the techniques and final painting and environmental work, fell to MBS.
The architect’s design also fitted in perfectly with the vision of KIDS. A one-storey building that was symmetrical, with mainly flat roofs, but with sloping roofs in the living areas.
This architectural quality is reflected inside and creates a pleasant atmosphere for the residents.
